Fool Moon
by Jim Butcher
I have no recollection of reading this book but I must have over 10 years ago.
Once again listened to the audio book with Marsters sighing and wetly licking his lips as he quietly reads from an actual book (I hear the pages turning in the background with all the other noises but can barely hear him, must be a poor recording).
And while I'm complaining, I can see why nerdy neck beards enjoy the Dresden books. Oh, he's just a powerful wizard who has a dark past but will quickly put his life on the line to do good and save the woman. White magic-this and why they always gotta pick on little Dresden-that? In the past two books we're reminded at least twice he's a "gentleman" and "old fashioned chivalry", "the kind to open doors for women" blah blah barf. I guess it's not Dresden the character I have a problem with, but the type of men who read these books and are like "yeah! I'm just like this! Why can't I get a girlfriend?!" Heck, buddy, I wouldn't even date Dresden, but you sir are no Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden.
I don't know where all this animosity is coming from but while I'm on a roll...
Let's talk about Murph. The yin to Dresden's yang. And yet it's her refusal to accept help or listen or let anyone talk or trust that lands Harry into these messes in the first place. She's a plot device and infuriating. She's the reason these books give me ulcers because of all the shit Harry has to face (I'd say "on his own" but he's just as bad as Murph and goes against everything alone because of his self sacrificing bullshit and belief that when anyone gets hurt it's his fault).
On that note, I can't wait to see what ulcer-inducing shenanigans Harry will get up to in book three!
