I have had this series recommended to me so many times over the past few years. I want to say… I didn’t realize this was a James Patterson presents series… there was my first clue. No offense, if you love JP but working at the library, I learned to really dislike his 500 book releases a month!

Anyways, I’m so sad that I didn’t love this as much as everyone else. First of all, I didn’t realize it was so creepy. I’m not big on creepy books! I really could have done without the photos. It took so long to actually grab my attention and I was bored at times. There were just a lot of slow sections to this one.

Audrey Rose was interesting enough and I get wanting to break the mold and be a feminist. Although, at times I felt like she was trying a little too hard in her mind and not in practice. I was also a bit confused on how she dissects bodies and loves it so much but couldn’t handle the crime scenes. It could be that Maniscalco was really trying to give you how messed up JTR is that even a person who likes to see opened up bodies would get sick. I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt on this one. I did keep track of how many times she accused Thomas of being Jack the Ripper.. it was at least 10 times. Yet she was into him… oh boy. I’m not quite sure how I feel about their relationship yet.

I will say that I did have JTR figured out quite early but I am REALLY good at picking up on clues. It’s okay, it was still a fun ride and I did enjoy myself with the mystery aspect.

Overall, I didn’t love this book but I did enjoy parts of it and I will be reading book two. It was an easy read and there are parts that I did enjoy. I own the next book and I feel that I have to give it a shot. I know a lot of people love this series and I’m going to give it another go.
