What We Lose by Zinzi Clemmons
4.0

Overall I enjoyed this read‼️ Not going to lie some of the chapters had me iffy with the jumping back and forth. Though the story itself seemed really believable almost sounded to good to be made up.

It wasn’t 100% relatable aside from Thandi losing her mother. Which I’ve experienced for myself and understand firsthand how grief can cause a whirlwind of emotions and make you behave in a way you typically wouldn’t because you’re trying to mask the pain. But even with not being able to relate to the story completely I found it quite unpredictable which kept me reading.

There was a lot I enjoyed about this novel and parts I didn’t care much for. But Zinzi pulled everything together to paint us a vivid picture of what Thandi was experiencing.

I just felt there was so much going on. She could have left certain aspects out and saved them for another book.

I won’t say this read is for everyone but I’d still recommend‼️‼️
