I love Melissa Brayden’s writing style, and loved aspects of this book, but the lack of communication frustrated me. When asked by Allie why she wasn’t opening up more, she never said, “Because I’m worried you’ll go back to your ex.” And Allie, despite being told directly by Megan’s mum that Megan needs to be sure of a relationship’s chance of success before opening up, was never like, “My engagement is no longer just paused. This is no longer just a period of self-discovery for me. My relationship with him is totally over. I don’t want to be with him, I want to be with you, long-term. I’m only looking after him after his accident because I feel guilty, and I’m not happy about it. You don’t need to worry.” Please just talk to each other!
