Tess of the D'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy
1.0

I barely got through this book - I actually resorted to SparkNotes, which I have never done through years of English class. The premise is morbidly fascinating and the characters' struggles relatable, plus the dialogue was great and brought the speakers to life. But I skimmed most of it - I'm not a fan of Hardy's style: overly verbose, and annoyingly extreme characters. (Also, I hate myself for reading this voluntarily.)
