The Way It Should Be by Christina Suzann Nelson
3.0

This book is about twins Eve and Zara. Eve has gotten addicted to drugs. Zara is newly married. She finds out she has a genetic disease. Then she finds out the state has custody of her sister's two kids and needs Zara to take them in to foster care. We also get to see the life of Tiff, who helps woman out on the streets with food and shelter and hours she might find out what happened to her own daughter.

This was a very hard look at addiction but also intertwines faith into the narrative. I loved getting to know a bit more about Eve and her thinking through journal entries throughout the book. She knows she needs to get clean for her kids but she really needs to go out for herself. To show herself she's capable of being a good mom and doing right by her kids.
