As with other books in the series, this is a fast paced, gripping novel, full of action and with some brilliant characters and interesting relationships.
However, I have to say I was vaguely underwhelmed, both with this book and the overall Farian War trilogy - it was not really up to the standards of the Indranan War trilogy which preceeded it, and which is one of my very favourite space operas. I was particularly uncomfortable with the romance between Hail and Mia, which seemed to me to be unhealthy given everything that happened to Hail in book 2 and Mia's partial culpability for her trauma. I would have rated the book quite a bit higher had that relationship not been included.
I did enjoy the Farian War trilogy, and Out Past the Stars was a competent ending to it, but I do not expect to reread the books anywhere near as many times as I have the Indranan War trilogy.
