Odd Man Out
by James Newman
A big thank you to the author for the free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review - authors rock! This book sparked up feelings inside of me that I have not listened to in years. Newman does a great job at taking us back to our teenage years (well, maybe the guys, anyway) where everything is carefree, you bust each others chops, and talk about sex a lot. Yep. That's guys... but then one of the young guys is not like the others and the bullying and terror begins. My heart is heavy after reading this because it explores the monstrosities that live inside us, the fear of the unknown, and the things we do to fit in with the crowd. I also really loved the way the story was told and the event that incited the flashback story to be told to us. Years and years later and where are we going? Read this book. Listen to the message. Such a great, haunting, painful, and beautifully written story.
