The Empress of Salt and Fortune
by Nghi Vo
a book i defiantly need to reread sometime to really understand it all better and catch all the details.
this was a very interesting and different little story that felt part fairytale and part life story.
i really liked the writing but i found the way the story was told a bit confusing as well and it took me a while to really get into it.
which sounds about as strange as this book was, i think.
i would have loved to get a few more explanations of how this entire world works, especially outside of the empress and her court and maids. but i understand why it wasn’t included because it’s not what the story was about. so overall it wasn’t important how the world works and why it is as it is, because the story was about the empress and her life.
overall i enjoyed it but it’s strange and not for everyone.
i think most people that love fairytale and mythologies? i think this book will be a good one.
if you hate that type of story telling?
don’t try this.
