The Handmaid's Tale
by Margaret Atwood
I had a really hard time reading this book. It was a horrifying read honestly, mostly because it parallels so many events currently happening in the world that are similair. I read this right as roe v wade was being executed in the USA, and seeing the rights of women be taken in so suddenly and so drasticly really gave this book an edge. I had to take frequent breaks in between reads because the topics were felt very heavy to me. It's a book I feel everyone should read once, as a warning for the potential threath religion, sexism, racism and bigotry could potentially result in if we don't keep fighting for out rights. It's a world I'd never want to live in, and yet it's one I seem to read about in the news more and more.
