I read this on Friday the 13th after seeing a fellow blogger do the same. It was shorter than I thought. The chapters abruptly ending and beginning though that may be due to this story not originally all being written and published at once as it is now. This is another classic case of the author using more words than necessary to describe mostly settings and happenings that have nothing to do with the plot. This didn't happen all the time but a few times which many be worse than all the time. Anyway, it was okay. Its not a story I did not know thanks to popular culture but one I had never actually read so I did and I'm glad for it.
