I really, really liked a lot of the sections in here and there were many quotes I starred and wrote in my journal. hooks has really given me a lot to think about when it comes to love, not just from a potential relationship standpoint, but with my friends, family, and community.

My main critiques are that parts of this book are a bit redundant and it is a product of its time (2001 to be exact). Some of the cultural references are outdated, and the book hardly mentions queer love. Since this book’s 20th anniversary is next year, I wonder if there are talks to create a revised version...
