This was my second time reading the book, and if anything it has only gotten better. The last time I read this book must've been a year or maybe two years ago, so I could still remember most of the plotline.

However, the story kept surprising me with these small things I had forgotten. There were even some really big things that I couldn't remember because he only names them in a sentence or two.

I just love this novel. No way around it. The world-building is fantastic, the magic system immense and complicated but still pretty easy to grasp the basics, and the characters realistic and like-able.

So realistic and like-able that I really don't know who to root for anymore.

'Gavin'? Who is lying to the whole world and practically ruining his life with it, all to keep everyone safe?

Or 'Dazen'? Who is the subject and the victim of that lie?

Kip? Who is just used by everyone, has such a low self-esteem and still manages to not be irritatingly whiny about it, and even can make jokes about his shortcomings?

Hell, even the Color Prince made the list because he kind of has a point, just goes about it the wrong way and at the wrong time.

And best of al: there's no huge cliffhanger at the end of the book. The storyline is nicely wrapped up, with just enough loose bits hanging out that you still feel like reading the second book to get an answer some big questions, without feeling that you really have to because you want to find out what happens next.
