I picked this book up because I was in the mood for a short, fun, fast paced sci-fi, and that is exactly what I got.
This is a YA dystopia which in some ways would have fit in well in the heydey of that genre a decade or so ago, but does have an added technological spin. The plot does have that 'over the top' fast paced feeling that is stereotypical of YA, but is enjoyable and takes some interesting turns. The main character is instantly interesting and I liked the various character interactions and relationships. The romance was not always handled well, but at least it avoided the common YA trope of insta-love.
Overall this was a fun read, but I suspect it will prove forgettable. There is a companion novel due out, but I don't think my interest level is high enough to buy it; perhaps if I'm in need of a fun palate cleanser again at some point, I might consider reading it on Scribd or via the library.
