Melba is excited to see the big parade at Carnaval, but she misses the bus into town, and has to walk to the next bus stop. Along the way she meets a musician, a boy with a kite, various animals, and a farmer lady with crates of bananas for the festival. Together the group go to Carnaval together, and hope they haven't missed the parade.

I liked the story and the funny characters. Melba is sometimes discouraged at the obstacles she encounters along the road, but her new friends tell her to be calm and look for new ways to get to the Carnaval. I like the positive messages about persevering when things go wrong.

The illustrations are bright and vivid, and the art style is attractive. The characters look so cute and funny!
