This book felt like a cozy hug from start to finish. Small town romance at its finest. It's a beautiful book to read on a warm summer evening, but the initial slow pacing (that suddenly speeds up in the final stretch?) may not be for everyone.
I really like Tarah DeWitt's narrative voice. It's very casual in a way that's funny without being cringe, which not everyone does well. It made both Sage and Fisher's POVs a joy to read. Sage is an absolute delight. I love that she's so certain about who she is as a person and what she wants out of life. She has her own share of insecurities, but the way she challenged Fisher's initial impression of her really struck a chord with me. And the way that the two of them continued to show up for each other and actually communicate like real adults? Ugh. Chef's kiss.
Also, will there ever be another book that makes me feel so endeared to a goose? 🥺
