Falling Back in Love with Being Human: Letters to Lost Souls
by Kai Cheng Thom
hopeful
inspiring
reflective
fast-paced
(book gifted by Penguin Random House Canada)
This was a very reflective book written in the form of letters of forgiveness to a vast range of people who have passed through or had some effect on the author's life. From people like her sister, and men who didn’t love her back, to people who probably don’t deserve her forgiveness, especially as a trans woman, like terfs and even J.K. Rowling. This book has so much empathy and understanding of what it is to be human, that while I didn’t connect with it as much as I wish I did and didn’t necessarily agree with everything said, I could really appreciate that. I only wished that it hadn’t been so brief and had deeper reflections on some of the topics it spoke on. While it left me still wanting something a bit more, I think that this will connect with a lot of people and is definitely a short but worthwhile read.
