How High We Go in the Dark by Sequoia Nagamatsu

I was close to DNFing this multiple times. I liked the short story concept, but it just meant I never really engaged with each story before it moved onto the next, semi-related but not enough to be invested, chapter.

I found the timeline really confusing too. Maybe if I was reading it in a shorter time frame (not over two months) I would have a better grasp but I kept being confused whether it was all chronological or bouncing back and forth because it seemed like it was somehow supposed to be both.
I also think the whole book being based around a pandemic still hit too hard for me, and if this were 5 years ago while that was still incomprehensible I would have enjoyed it more as a sci-fi concept.
