XOXO by Axie Oh
5.0

I've found a new favourite in XOXO. This book would've brought me so much comfort when I was 16, and I love that it's going to make people feel more seen and heard in the future!

There's a mix of so many things in this book - found family, a love for K-Pop, and an exploration of the beauty of Korea, as well as an introduction to its cut-throat K-Pop culture. The descriptions, the characters, the overall vibe of this book was just so lovely and nostalgic (felt like I was watching a K-Drama or one of those behind-the-scene documentaries of a K-Pop group) - it wasn't full of drama and toxicity, but it didn't shy away from some heavy/intense moments and I appreciated the respect and love given to the genre and its people in this book.

Jenny and Jaewoo are so cute, but I also love that Jenny finds a family for herself in Korea and truly makes strong connections with those around her - a heroine with friends and support and love, ugh, yes, thank you
