I have never been this angry over a book... Ever...
This book follows the life of Maurice Swift through the lens of these people that he's manipulated as he climbs his way to success in the world of literature. And you can see how he affected these people, what it's like being manipulated, their lives before and after him.
This book made me cry out of anger and it's been a long time since a book made me feel like this. The way Boyne has written this, it's not one of those books with flowery lines, it's just written as it is. Maurice is probably one of my most hated characters in all of the books that I've read. And the way he justifies his acts in the end, guiltless of what he's done is, in my personal opinion, such a good way to write on how a manipulator thinks.
The topic about where a writer gets his idea is such a subject of study. I'd love to hear more about it (am i being manipulated here?)
