Stay for Me by Corinne Michaels
4.0

I haven’t read the others in this series, but usually brothers type of stories are standalones within the series. And this one was that way, even with the appearances of all the rest of the family, which only made me interested to go back and read their individual stories if I have time.

This was a sweet story, both Brenna and Jacob had their own demons to deal with, but both were ready and willing to work on those things. They fought as long as they could, and when they did decide to give it a go, they did it knowing that it had a shelf-life since Jacob would be going back to Hollywood. But Jacob was such a wonderful man, doing things for his hometown, for the boy he met that looked up to him, Brenna’s son Sebastian. And of course I loved the family so much, I feel like my family is like that, we’d take in anyone and welcome them with open arms and they’d always be considered a part of the family even if something changed between them and the person they’d been seeing or whatever.

As I got to the final quarter of the story I began wondering how there would be any more issues to deal with, or what the author would throw into our couple’s way. It started out in the way I thought it would, but what ended up being their biggest obstacle surprised me a bit, or I didn’t see it coming at first. In the end of course, true love wins out in the only way that it can.
