Teen Titans Vol. 2: Turn It Up
by Adam Glass
This might be one of the most frustrating series I'm reading because HALF is really damn good, while the other is I could give two fucks about.
I will give Adam so big bonuses on one thing. He is trying to make every single character flushed out. Really give them backgrounds, motives, and plotlines that actually MATTER. I really enjoy a lot of the set up with Damien here. It feels like a odd turn but you have to remember this is Damien after almost finding out Deathstroke is his father. His methods are harder, and more fucked up, but makes sense. I also enjoy the storyline with jason todd and even enjoy the Wally stuff with Wu A LOT.
The stuff that didn't work for me was Lobo's daughters rage boner for him. She wants him dead. I get it. I just don't find it that interesting (though her design is cool) I also think they are downplaying Red Arrow's usefulness in a big way here.
Overall, Teen Titans remains a mixed bag. Luckily some of it is really good and I'll read on. I just want it to be the great series it CAN be. A 3 out of 5.
