Salomé
by Oscar Wilde
Well, this was... odd.
My overwhelming response to reading this is that I want to see it. The words themselves are spectacular but they're meant to be brought to life by human beings and music and a stage. I want to find and watch a dozen different productions because there is so much imagery, so much symbolism, and on a page it doesn't quite make sense. There are so many layers to everything that happens, and it's almost impossible to decipher.
This won't be one I forget in a hurry. If I don't sleep tonight? It's because I'm trying to work this one out.
