Oof. I think I went in to this one with my hopes too high. An accidental marriage to a handsome Irishman with the banter and accent to swoon over, a pup named after Oscar Wilde, and a female character finding her professional goals come to fruition sounds like the makings of a great RomCom. Sadly, this one fell flat for me.
Pros:
-cute banter between Cara and Finn
-Prologue earned that extra .5 to this rating
-Cara realizing her worth and leaving her dead end assistant job to follow her dreams
Cons:
-instalove that has no appeal, tension, or chemistry
-the romantic conflict was ridiculous
-the amount of times the author uses the love interests full ass name: “Finn Maguire” (I didn’t know how much this could annoy me until reading Lucky Leap Day. This alone put me off almost immediately. It had me wondering where the editor was while actually editing this book, sorry not sorry)
-I wasn’t expecting smut, but the fact that this isn’t even fade to black was disappointing. All “talk and no show” when it came to the intimate moments. You can’t say the phrase “death by orgasm” a few times and not give us even a little crumb of the action.
I would still recommend this to anyone looking for a straight up fun, charming accidental marriage romance with a dash of Ireland & a heroine to root for.
