Firestorm is an adult paranormal romance by Donna Grant. It is the tenth book in the dark kings series. I have not read any of the previous books in the series, but they can each be read as standalones. I do have to say, I feel like this series would be better read in order. Yes, this book can work as a standalone, but I feel like I would have a much better idea of the world if I had read the previous books. That being said, I did really enjoy Firestorm. I found it to be sexy and a great read.
Firestorm starts out with our main character, an archeologist, discovering a dragon skeleton. Right away I was hooked into the story. I loved Faith and I really, really loved Dimitri. I admired how determined Faith was, and I really enjoyed the back and forth between her and Dimitri. Dimitri is super interesting himself. I loved seeing his inner struggle with the human v. dragon side and the way that influenced his interactions with faith. Plus, the romance was awesome. The perfect mix of intense and sweet.
Bottom line: If you are a fan of adult paranormal romance, I would reccomend the Dark King series. However; I would not start with Firestorm. Donna Grant is a master storyteller I while I think you can safely pick up and start with any book, you may be confused from time to time on world elements. I think you would do best to read this series in order. I wish I had. Either way, I really enjoyed Firestorm and I can't wait to go back and read the Dark Kings series from the start. Fans of long series will love this one.
