Small Town Swoon
by Melanie Harlow
This was super cute and fun! I was wondering for several books what exactly happened between Dash and Ari and I couldn't wait to get to their story. I also was worried that the small town waitress/a celebrity actor wouldn't work well, but it really did! I think this was because Dash and Ari knew each other since childhood (Ari is Dash's sister's best friend), so it made a lot of sense. Ari and Dash were such a cute couple, and had to overcome a "mistake" that happened between them years ago when Ari was 16 and Dash was 19. They have both had feelings for each other for years though, and it all comes to a head when Dash comes back to town to visit, on break from Hollywood acting and trying to improve his emotional depth to land a role he wants. Ari is working at her parent's diner but has really big culinary dreams. I loved the whole trope of "just one time to get it out of our systems" that turns into really falling for each other, but with this added element of them always having feelings for each other but never really having the right timing. Melanie Harlow is the master at weaving small town with great characters, families you love, laugh out loud moments and super hot spice. I really loved this book but I CANNOT wait for Mabel's book!
