The Mothers
by Brit Bennett
This book was astounding. Brit Bennett's writing reminded me of Toni Morrison. The characters were complex, flawed, selfish, and so very real. I think the book was a very good exploration of the unintentional harm we can cause one another. No character was villainous in the story, but all managed to hurt each other through doing what was best or right for them during an unplanned teenage pregnancy and subsequent abortion. Excellent read, can't wait to read more of this author's work.
