If you’re a fan of The Witcher, Priory of the Orange Tree, and His Dark Materials (with just a dash of Gideon the Ninth) you need to check out Godkiller by Hannah Kaner.
In a world where worship of the gods has been outlawed, a soldier of the king, a godkiller, and a young girl tethered to a god must journey together to the city where the last battle took place and the gods now roam. Right from the devastating prologue I was completely hooked. The characters have so much heart and will have you rooting for them right away as you follow them on their journey, and will keep you gripped to the page with every fight scene and bit of action. I really enjoyed watching the relationships form between the characters (if you like found family along the lines of Joel and Ellie as well as Tess in The Last of Us you’ll like this trust me).
I really enjoyed Godkiller and I am astounded that this is a debut. I will be eagerly waiting for the sequel and any other future work by Hannah Kaner.
