I am not a huge horror fan but I can see why people might really like this book. Opal and Arthur meet when Opal cuts her hand on the gate of Starling House. He advises her to run and she does but then she just has to come back. The book is set in a dislikable town with a dislikable set of characters, this isn’t what I felt it was what the book told me. The book also told me that Opal and Arthur are the ugliest peoples you will ever see in your life so imagine my surprise when I saw a conventionally attractive pair as an illustration 😂. All jokes aside the book was pretty good at the end but it was slow to pick up. I would have liked it more if it had like 25 pages less and sped towards the action a little more. If you are a fan of horror then you might really like this! I just read it in the least spooky season so I wasn’t really into it. The edition from illuminate is absolutely beautiful though and I’m so happy I got it!
