The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mandel
3.0

Taking a Ponzi scheme and turning it inside out [a:Emily St. John Mandel|2786093|Emily St. John Mandel|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1576606299p2/2786093.jpg] invites the reader into a world of opportunism, falsehood, grief and regret. The before, during, and after experiences of each character are as varied as the ways each is impacted by the scheme. The territory she covers is at once interloping and familiar. Set variously in an remote island hotel, in bustling contemporary cityscapes, and even out at sea, what starts out here as a closed-room crime to be solved takes the reader inside an elaborate web of characters exposing the ways people both care for and take advantage of one another everyday.

Thanks to NetGalley from whom I received a complimentary ARC copy of [b:The Glass Hotel|45754981|The Glass Hotel|Emily St. John Mandel|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1564199892l/45754981._SX50_.jpg|57817644] to read and give an honest review.
