Dark and Stormy
by Felicia Starr
Dark and Stormy is a very quick book about a love spell. When I started reading and saw that a love spell was at play, I was thinking “oh no”, but I was pleasantly surprised that once the spell was cast the Regina and Reddick didn’t automatically start falling over themselves to get to the other person. It didn’t feel over the top or crazy cheesy. It was just a quick story about two people finally seeing how great they are for each other.
Regina and Reddick are both total workaholics. They live for the job and they are both very competitive. They are honestly like the same person. I feel like they actually would be a good match. They story gives you just enough set up and background information to allow you to get to know Regina, Reddick and their boss, but not much of anyone else. You get a glimpse of the other people in the office but they are mostly just background noise in the story. Once you take a day or two to explore the office, the magic of the spell starts to heat up between the two of them.
A storm forces them together and they bond over a project they are working on at night. I would have liked it more if this book seemed to be a fun start of something more and that was it. I would have liked them to just hint at future feelings, but Reddick full out thinks he is in love with Regina. That was the only thing that bugged me a little about the story. It was too quick for love, but other than that I thought this book was fun and sexy. I quick little story that was impressively developed for its mere 136 pages. You should read this book if you are looking for a quick magical weekend romance.
