The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
3.0

It took me a long time to get through this one -- I worked on it off and on for a couple years. It wasn't bad, and the story was interesting enough that I wanted to finish it eventually...it just didn't hold my attention very well, and I kept getting distracted with other books. While it gets your attention by being a book about Dracula, it soon becomes a book about _research about_ Dracula, and most of the book is reading about people reading about people reading about (yes, it often does go three levels deep) old accounts of Vlad the Impaler's life and death, and very little actually _happens_ for much of the book. I'm not one who needs constant action and excitement in everything I read, but breathless accounts of library research can only hold my attention for so long.
