librarybonanza 's review for:
Grand Canyon
by Jason Chin
Award: 2018 Caldecott Honor
Age: Preschool (if the interest is there)-2nd grade
What does the Grand Canyon say about the world's history? Chin uses the rock layers of this miraculous land formation to reveal the different time periods that occurred on this specific plot of land. Side notes and illustrations make this perfect for the information hungry but accessible enough for a basic overview of our national treasure.
As my own side note, I wish there was a bit more about how the rocks were carved out by the river, but that probably would have made for a very long picture book.
