This is a great book that details how fashion is making us sick. The author spares no details, backed up by plenty of facts and data, to tell us about both the history of toxic fashion as well as the present state of the industry. Wicker also gives us actionable steps we can take to reducing our exposure, thereby protecting our health and the planet. The author talks about how toxic fast fashion can be, and how our clothes and the material we wear can be making us sick - for example, he dives into the stories of infertility associated with the chemicals leeching into our skin from the items of clothing we wear, clothing we don't really think has an impact like it does. He also talks about their connection with autoimmune dieseases, which we all know are on the rise. In this case, you get what you pay for; cheap clothes equal health risks and detriments to our planet. It's not all in your head! Many people suffer from multiple chemical sensitivity (the author expands upon this in great detail) and these chemicals in our clothing greatly affect those with sensitivities. But don't be fooled! They're not just a risk for people with sensitivities, but for all of us. They wreak havoc on the body, whether we directly see or feel it or not. I highly recommend this book if you'd like to learn more about this topic. It's well written and so informative, and I enjoyed gaining newfound knowledge that can help me make better choices for myself, my family and the planet.
