It was wonderful to see Nita's younger sister, Dairine, taking the lead role in this book. I was especially touched by her philosophy that knowing and learning things will keep you safe from the dangers in the world. Dairine is a delightful character, full of both weakness and strength. The interactions between Dairine and her computerized Manual made me laugh sometimes!

I loved the world-building of this book, so different from the previous books, and the way that it is carefully introduced bit by bit really pulls the plot together too.

It's amazing how this author deals with such deep themes: the meaning of breathing Life, the passage of time, the nature of evil, the complexities of creation and the naming of living entities. And all beautifully woven with a great plot and character development and interaction. Just brilliant writing!
