The Push by Ashley Audrain
3.0

The Push follows Blythe, a new mother to her daughter Violet. Ever since birthing Violet, Blythe thinks there is something wrong with her daughter. She seems distant and doesn’t want anything to do with Blythe, but always wants her father, Fox. When Blythe has her second child, Sam, everything goes more smoothly. Is there something really wrong with Violet?
I got this book because there was so much hype. I for one do not understand the hype. The book felt distant at first because it is told in second person. I read that this book is disturbing and I didn’t really feel that way. It focused a lot on motherhood and it felt dragged at times because of that. I wish Violet was creepier. Also, everyone around Blythe seemed blind to what was going on. I did like the tone of the story once I got in the groove of reading second person.
