This is a short little novella to set us up for the series being published in October of this year. Set 6 years after ww1 in the uk, this introduces us to the two main characters. One is a young girl getting her first taste of freedom away from her parents. And the other is of course the independent and wise widow who speaks her mind no matter the cause. And of course drinks a French 75 and touts around a pistol in her purse while solving the murder while waiting for Scotland Yard to arrive. We all know the type… The author made this little novella available for free to introduce us to these characters before their adventure really begins this fall. I enjoyed meeting them and I will check out the book in the fall.
