While the beginning was a bit slow, it didn't take long for the story to pull me in.

When you read a romance, you expect it to be centered around the main characters, you don't expect to give as much importance to the other characters and yet, in this book, you do.

In fact, the focus of this story is not so much how Jo and Alex will begin their relationship (although that is an important point) but rather how Jo will overcome the death of her nephew, her grief, her mourning, while healing from all those previous hardships that she never actually took the time to move on from.

It's a story of family, forgiveness, memories, and how grief can take people apart but also bring them together. It's a story of how you can still open your heart when it's been shredded by life and how you rebuild yourself by accepting that those scars are now a part of you.

And it' sa story that I loved reading, that I needed to read. And I got so attached to Mia, Kitty, Nina, Ollie, Grey... that I had a hard time saying goodbye to them.

Fortunately, I hope to find them soon in the second volume of this saga.

Si le début était un peu lent, l'histoire n'a pas mis longtemps à me happer.

Quand on lit une romance, on s'attend à la voir centrée autour des personnages principaux, on ne s'attend pas à accorder autant d'importance aux autres personnages et pourtant, dans ce livre, c'est le cas.

En fait, le point central de cette histoire n'est pas tant comment Jo et Alex vont commencer leur relation (même si c'est un point important) mais plutôt comment Jo va surmonter la mort de son neveu, sa peine, son deuil, tout en guérissant de toutes ces précédentes épreuves dont n'avait en fait jamais pris le temps d'avancer.

C'est une histoire de famille, de pardon, de souvenirs, et de comment le chagrin peut séparer les gens mais aussi les rassembler. C'est l'histoire de comment on peut encore ouvrir son coeur quand celui-ci a été déchiqueté par la vie et comment on se reconstruit en acceptant que ces cicatrices laissées fassent maintenant partie de soi.

Et c'est une histoire que j'ai adoré lire, que j'avais besoin de lire. Et je me suis tellement attachée à Mia, à Kitty, à Nina, à Ollie, à Grey... que j'ai eu du mal à leur dire au-revoir.

Heureusement, j'espère les retrouver vite dans le deuxième volume de cette saga.
