I loved this book more than I thought I was going to. It's a delightful story with a magical cast of characters, and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.

The only other Neil Gaiman book I'd read up until now was American Gods, but I think I like this one even better. The stories are similar; a regular Joe discovers an unknown world hiding near familiar landmarks (this one takes place in England's underground), but otherwise they are quite different novels.

the characters are a little one-note, but that's kind of part of the charm. It isn't what I'd call "a literary masterpiece" but it gets the job done, and I would definitely recommend it if you are a fan of Gaiman's, or fantastical fiction in general!
