This is the one thing that gets me every single time I read it: a group of friends that consider each other their home, their family. I JUST CAN’T DEAL WITH IT. It affects me so much I automatically love them.

And I really did love them. The characters were all pretty great. Ollie’s introverted personality was so relatable, Tai was so sweet, and even the other characters (+ an asexual character talking about asexuality YES) were great although I would have loved to learn more about them!
I would have loved to learn more about so many things actually. This story really does concentrate on the relationship between Tai and Ollie, as well as their family I suppose. But I was SO interested in them that I wanted to know more about their surroundings: I need to have more Jamie/Ollie interactions! How do these surf comps work? What about the other competitors we see more than once?

Basically, it’s a really sweet short book with likeable characters that could have been even better with more about what else was going on around them – although I am not complaining about the love scenes. ;)
