How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix
3.0
dark medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: No

If you are a fan of haunted marionettes and slasher movies then you will love this book but since I’m not I didn’t enjoy it as much as I had wanted to.

Louise and Mark are estranged siblings and who are forced into each others lives again after the sudden death of their parents in a car accident.

Their mother was a puppeteer and ventriloquist who had a (surprise surprise) a favourite puppet. Her house was also full of creepy dolls. For some reason she leaves the house to her son but the dolls to her daughter and because of that the siblings have to really get into each others faces.

They rehash old memories and find out that things were not exactly how they remembered them to be. They discover their family’s dark secrets and anything else I mention here would be a spoiler so I won’t.

Overall I didn’t like either of the siblings enough to care for them or what happened to them. I still didn’t hate it. It was amusing just way too long. It could’ve easily been a hundred pages less and perhaps I would’ve been writing a different review.
