Trail of Lightning by Rebecca Roanhorse
4.0

Author Rebecca Roanhorse created a well-written post-apoplectic novel about the Diné people in modern-day Arizona. The storyline was rich in Diné culture and allowed the reader to immerse themselves in a new culture. My biggest critique of the novel is, (1) the two main characters often went around in circles with them going to the same several locations again and again. This created feelings of stagnation, where nothing was happening in the plot. (2) The novel dragged on. The storyline, in the beginning, was compelling and then slowed, only picking up again in the last hundred pages.

I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy post-apoplectic books or want to try the genre and readers who want books with more BIPOC characters and new culture. Overall I give it 3.5 stars!
