I started this book as part of a book club for this month. It took me a few chapters to get invested. The story the author weaves in this magical world is amazing. Although I do not read many fantasy books I felt like the providence cards were a different type of magic system I have seen before. 

 

There is so much going on in this book but there is also an underlying romance with Ravyn and Elspeth which was sweet but also heartbreaking. I gave this book 4.75 ⭐️ and .5 🌶️ there was a scene but it was small and not what I am used to. I had to dock stars because it did take longer for me to get into the story but when I was in it was fantastic. 

If you have not started this duet I highly recommend it if you like a fantasy with a sprinkle of romance. Also for a debut series it was fantastic.
