A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is perhaps my favorite book of all time, so I was excited to read more Betty Smith. @Readingbringsjoy recently read and reviewed this book and it got me to pick this book up. It was such a delight! Betty Smith writes characters with depth, but the setting and premise is so simple - yet so beautifully written. Annie and Carl are so endearing and this quaint little college down made for a book you want to hug.
