Wow, this was awful so I quit pretty early on. The world was complicated and didn't make much sense. I belated realized this is a take on "Beauty and the Beast," and while now it makes more sense, I still don't want to read it. I can't keep reading when I'm questioning the strangeness and believability of it all. The MC is captured by a beautiful, rich fae or fairy or whatever, but he just drastically improves her life after she kills his friend? "Beauty and the Beast" was entertaining as a kid, but an adaptation of it doesn't work for me as an adult.
