The Starless Sea follows Zachary Ezra Rawlins, a gay university students who picks up an old book at the library, and find one chapter about himself. He then goes grasping after clues, trying to find out how and why this is possible… will this lead him to the Starless Sea?
If you watch my video review, you will see me trying to struggle with words … I think The Starless Sea left me speechless. It is a beautiful adventure, with stories within the story that I fell in love with every single time. It spoke to me in such a beautiful way, and I feel like it was a match of Strange the Dreamer meeting Every Heart a Doorway, which made me book-loving heart sing because those are some of my two favorite books of all time. I still don’t really have words, but the one word I would use is… wonderous. It was full of wonder and stories, that appreciated storytelling in a way that made my heart burst. I loved how everything hang together, the different characters and the world. I think it all could’ve connected a bit better in the end, but overall it is a book I would recommend with all my heart. I can see this is not for everyone though, but that is okay, but it was definitely a story for me. 4.5/5 stars.
