Kingdom of Ash
by Sarah J. Maas
I finally finished this mammoth of a book in 366 days. Yes, 366 days, which is a huge yikes. Usually I’m better than that, but there are three reasons why it took so long. I did not want this series to end, I was spoiled by some major things and wanted time to take away from the book so I could feel the emotions I needed to when it came to those spoilers, and I have this horrible problem that I stop books I love to read new books I just got and it becomes an endless cycle. With the last one I’m making a goal in 2020 to stop doing that and finish my in progress books.
Anyway, Kingdom of Ash has my favorite cover out of the whole series. I love the gold and how Aelin looks. It’s just beautiful.
Now, for the story line. This book is 980 pages and we are seeing the consequences of what happened from Throne of Glass, which is a 3 year span I believe. We are finally at the war and for Aelin to pay the past of her ancestors mistakes. Will she live? Will she survive? What about her friends fate?
There was a lot of bittersweet moments, heartbreaking moments, and beautiful moments out of this whole book. I felt like there were some really good quotes that came from both Aelin and Aedion.
I have to say this one out of the series made it out high on favorites out of the series.
The book wraps up nicely and satisfying, but I do feel like there are several loose strings that Sarah can go back and tie up in a future novella or something.
