Wicked as You Wish

Wicked As You Wish is Rin Chupeco’s newest series. We are in our world, but every single myth, legend and fairytale you can think of is put into it. The magical kingdom Avalon was put under ice a decade ago, but the crown prince Alex escaped. He has for the last year been in hiding with our main character, Tala and her Filipino family. On Alex’s 18th birthday, the firebird appears and it might be time to fight for Avalon again…
I didn’t know a lot about this going into it, but I have read other books by the author that I really enjoyed and was thereby excited for this. It did not disappoint! It was fun, exciting, with great diverse characters. I’m so looking forward to get to know them and the world more in the upcoming sequels. I loved how original and inclusive the book was, and generally how much fun I had with it. My main issue was the writing and the worldbuilding, at times it was very info dumpy and the world was explained to us a lot through questions from the MC. This is just one of my least favorites way to world build, but it did work and it didn’t make the book “bad”. I would recommend this a lot! 4/5 stars.
