An ok read but pretty standard. It felt a little bit too juvenile for me but after the first hour of the audiobook it became more enjoyable. I was really shocked to find out this book is adult.
Although I always expect it from retellings, the book was definitely cheesy at times. The world building didn’t really make any sense and wasn’t very well thought out. The characters were all sweet but I felt no emotional attachment to them or the story.
Definitely would’ve enjoyed it a lot more if it had been longer and written for a more mature audience.
I know it sounds like a harsh review but I would definitely recommend it if you’re just looking for a simple YA fantasy to pass the time. Also I loved how unapologetically sapphic this book was!!
