Triple-Duty Bodyguards

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below.
I have a theory: I don’t think she’s rude or bitchy at all. I think she’s just a very private, intelligent woman who is playing the media like a fucking violin.
This book was one of my early reverse harem reads forever ago, and it was a frequent reread as well. I’m such a sucker for a gritty bodyguard romance, and this certainly is that. When I saw that there was an audiobook as well I of course had to get it. Let me just say, one of the MMCs is Scottish, and it is pure joy listening to it, lol.
I really like the story. All of the characters are well developed and have their own journeys throughout the book. The male characters aren’t just copies of each other with a different hair color. Of course there’s a dominant type, a shy type and the calm guy who pulls them all together, but it really works. It goes a bit further than surface level.
I also love Briar. She’s not necessarily a super likable FMC, but she’s unapologetically herself. She’s a product of her upbringing and surroundings in Hollywood where she’s been hounded by paparazzi and sexually harassed by the public since she was a teenager. She’s brash and crude, but it’s mostly just a defense mechanism. She loves pink, she knows she looks fucking great, and she goes after what she wants. There’s none of that ‘I shouldn’t want this, this is so wrong’. She decides she wants and deserves three great men, and I’m here for it.
The suspense and the entire stalking situation really had me hooked the first time I read it. Of course I know what happens really well by now, but I think it’s a well developed plot, and it was certainly suspenseful to the very end.
The spice is spicy. Maybe don’t listen in public, lol. Let’s just say that three ex special forces soldiers can be very organized and thorough when it comes to pleasure. I think Briar made the right choice, lol.
I don’t know, this one just works for me. Probably because it’s heavy on the external plot and suspense. Somewhere between 4 and 5 stars, rounded up.

“Don’t apologise. I think it’s kind of cute.” I tuck into him. “We have matching unhealthy coping mechanisms. How adorable is that?”
“It’s possible that finally seeing you with another man will discourage your stalker from pursuing you.” I take a bite of grapefruit. “You want me to take one of you as my date?” […] If I want someone to melt into a red carpet, I’m going to have to go with the chiselled white guy. Great. I turn to Matt and smile at him as sweetly as I can. “Makeover time.” Hopefully, the look of horror in his eyes will make up for the rest of my shitty day.
